As of May 2024, the number of commercial SAR satellites in orbit in my country has reached 15, and it maintains a strong momentum of development. These satellite payloads cover working bands such as C, X and Ku, and have the ability to provide global users with all-day, all-weather, high-precision, multi-mode earth observation imaging services, and networking business operation capabilities are taking shape. Among them, the C band has good penetration ability, providing stable and reliable data guarantee for multi-factor observations such as marine targets, emergency monitoring of natural disasters and production safety accidents, land use, and surface water bodies; the X band has high-resolution capabilities, providing rich and accurate target object details for natural resource monitoring, geographic surveying and mapping, urban planning and other fields; and the Ku band has a shorter wavelength, and the imaging level is close to optical imaging, which provides a basis and reference for application services such as underground water supply network leak detection and building damage assessment. In the future, commercial aerospace is a national strategic emerging industry and a typical representative of new quality productivity. At present, domestic SAR satellite development technology has gradually entered a mature and stable stage. A series of SAR satellite projects led by the "national team" cover the full P/S/L/C/X/Ku bands, and have completed detailed technical design and verification work in high-resolution imaging, interference, polarization, attitude/orbit control, and ground processing. These achievements provide a technical path and a rich talent pool for the development of commercial SAR satellites. Therefore, compared with optical satellites, the unique advantages of SAR satellites will continue to maintain a rapid growth in their development and launch. At the same time, with the success of a series of experiments in my country such as ultra-long-distance intersatellite laser communication and ultra-high-speed satellite-to-ground laser communication, commercial SAR satellites should continue to increase investment in data continuity, quality stability, and service timeliness, actively play the multiplier effect of data elements, and become a new tool to promote the development of the digital economy.
